The new year starts out with a bang of reporting, as every year: A/I LFMCs must submit their nil misconduct declarations (unless they reported misconduct during the previous calendar year) and their quarterly reports by 14 January 2025.

A word from the Committee by Joyce Woo, AIWM Regulatory & Advocacy

Incoming members of the 2025 committee were each asked to prepare a short introductory note for the Association’s 2024 AGM. My contribution was “Mindful Practicality”. This attempt at brevity was nixed and my contribution was expanded to: “The bedrock of a sustainable enterprise is a mindful and practical approach to fulfilling regulatory expectations.”

And it’s a wrap! We held the last event of the year, AIWM Regulatory & Compliance Update workshop, together with UBS Singapore last Wednesday, which saw over 70 members come by for a morning of learning the best practices of cyber resiliency, managing cybersecurity risks. Facilitated by Ingenia Consultants, over 20 professionals from our Ordinary member firms, holding the operations and/or compliance forts, attended the FIRST AIWM Regulatory Masterclass on 4 Dec 2024.

Compliance Insight – December 2024

No material regulatory updates for external asset managers (“EAMs”) were issued by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (“MAS”) in November 2024. Hopefully, this will allow us to enjoy the festive season. At the same time, financial institutions may finalise the implementation of previous updates and prepare for the filings due early next year.
