“The elegance of subtraction –
removing the excess to focus on what is essential.”

Tell us about yourself, your company, and your role.

My journey in the financial world began when I attained my degree in Business specialising in Financial Analysis at Nanyang Technological University (NTU). Over the years, my career has spanned the full spectrum of the industry – from back-office operations to the front office, and from comprehensive financial planning to private equity investments.

Quann Prestige Pte Ltd is a newly established firm within the PhillipCapital Group. Our aim is to bring a distinct approach to the independent wealth space by pairing the tailored agility of a boutique practice with the robust institutional infrastructure of a global financial group.

We draw immense strength from the deep roots of PhillipCapital. For 50 years, the Group has been a pillar of stability with a solid track record. Today, PhillipCapital manages over US$85 billion in AUM, serving 1.9 million clients with a global network of 15 offices and extensive entities-including Trustees and a Bank that Quann Prestige can collaborate with. Furthermore, clients benefit from the flexibility to start with lower minimums if booking within PhillipCapital.

By building Quann Prestige on this historic foundation, we apply our rigorous, evidence-based investment philosophy with absolute confidence. Our CIO function is headed by my colleague Daryl Liew, CFA and backed by the research resources of PhillipCapital.

Our clients receive the bespoke, high-touch service of an independent practice, fortified by the multi-generational resilience of a global financial house. We operate through an open, multi-custodial architecture, partnering with leading private banks and leveraging PhillipCapital’s platform to deliver bespoke wealth solutions.

What is wealth management to you?

To me, wealth management goes far beyond generating investment returns. It is the disciplined stewardship of a client’s entire financial life – preserving what has been built, growing it with purpose, and ensuring it endures across generations.

True wealth management requires deep alignment with the client’s interests. As an independent practice, we are free from the constraints of any single institution, allowing us to act solely in our clients’ best interests. It is about providing bespoke, high-touch solutions for complex wealth structures – whether that means constructing multi-asset portfolios guided by evidence-based principles, structuring a Variable Capital Company for a family office, or planning for legacy and succession.

Ultimately, good wealth management requires a relationship built on trust, transparency, and an unwavering commitment to safeguarding what matters most to our clients and their families.

Three Key Lessons from the Past Three Years

1. Bridging the Generational Perspective
Professional longevity requires an intentional effort to understand the younger generation’s perspectives on wealth and purpose. Moving beyond ‘top-down’ leadership to stay curious and empathetic ensures we evolve our own thinking to remain relevant in a shifting world.

2. AI as a Catalyst for Strategy and Connection
The rapid evolution of AI has fundamentally shifted not just wealth management, but every facet of our daily lives. I have learned that AI is not a replacement for human intuition, but a powerful tool that handles the heavy lifting. By leveraging AI to process complex data and streamline operations, we are freed to direct our energy toward what truly adds value and fostering deep human relationships.

3. The Art of a Balanced and Intentional Life
Managing a balanced life is not about a perfect 50/50 split between work and leisure; it is about intentionality. To practise “the elegance of subtraction” – removing the excess to focus on what is essential. Whether it is deliberately choosing where to direct my focus, or travelling light with a single, compact camera instead of heavy gear, keeping things simple leaves me more grounded, present, and engaged in all aspects of my life.
