Dear Members and Friends of AIWM,
August is always a special month. Here in Singapore, we come together to celebrate our National Day and reflect on the values that have shaped our nation – resilience, adaptability, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
It is also fitting that many countries across our region and beyond commemorate important national milestones during this month: Switzerland (1 August), Bolivia and Jamaica (6 August), Ecuador (10 August), India (15 August), Indonesia (17 August), and Malaysia and Trinidad and Tobago (31 August). These celebrations are a timely reminder that we operate in an increasingly interconnected world. The independent wealth management industry has always been global in nature, with clients, businesses, and opportunities spanning borders.
As we celebrate these occasions, we are reminded of the values that unite us as an industry: trust, stewardship, innovation, and a long-term commitment to helping our clients preserve and grow their wealth across generations.
Just as importantly, I hope all firms will continue to place a strong focus on the next generation. Our industry has benefited immensely from mentors who have generously shared their time, knowledge, and experiences. It is now our responsibility to do the same. Let us continue to nurture young professionals, impart them with the technical skills and knowledge required to succeed, and, perhaps more importantly, instill in them the values of integrity, curiosity, empathy, and putting clients first. The future of independent wealth management will ultimately be shaped not by today’s leaders, but by those we invest in today.
It has been a privilege to witness the continued growth and evolution of our industry. Together, we have strengthened the voice of independent wealth managers, fostered meaningful dialogue across the ecosystem, and created platforms for learning, collaboration, and professional excellence. From our educational initiatives and industry engagements to the continued success of initiatives such as the AIWM-SMU Independent Wealth Summit, these achievements would not have been possible without the collective efforts of our community.
To our members, sponsors, partners, fellow committee members, and friends of the industry: thank you for your unwavering support, contributions, and commitment to advancing the independent wealth management ecosystem in Singapore.
Wishing everyone a meaningful month of celebrations, reflection, and continued success.
Warm regards

Bernard Ong
AIWM Vice President
